Subject: | Legalizing Quarter Auctions as a Small Game of Chance (Former HB 1323) |
In the near future, we plan to reintroduce House Bill 1323 that will give licensed organizations under the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act an opportunity to offer an additional type of game to their patrons. Current law states that only punchboards, daily drawings, weekly drawings, raffles, and pull-tabs are permitted to be played by a licensed eligible organization. Our legislation would expand this to include “coin auctions” such as quarter auctions as small game of chance. Our legislation would define a “coin auction” as a game in which a participant buys a paddle for a chance to bid on a donated prize with the winner determined by a random drawing. Simply put, our legislation gives our local charitable organizations an additional way to raise money for their organizations.
