Subject: | Amendment to Public School Code to further provide for publishing notices |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to amend the Public School Code to provide school districts with more flexibility in the manner in which required notices are published. Under current law, school districts must publish notices in a newspaper of general circulation or a newspaper printed or circulated within the school district. Such publication is often quite costly for a district. My legislation would allow school districts to choose among several means of publishing notices; including a newspaper of general circulation in which the school district is located, a locally circulated publication, a legal newspaper, or on the official website of a newspaper of general circulation or legal newspaper. With school districts facing increased costs and revenue shortfalls, allowing districts flexibility in providing notices to the public is one way to help districts control their expenses.
