Subject: | Reintroduction of legislation - Amending Conservation Corps Act (former HB 1241) |
In the near future, I will be reintroducing former HB 1241, which passed in the House during the 2007-2008 session as HB 143 (187-3) and passed unanimously in the House during the 2005-2006 session as HB 534. This legislation assists our supervisors, known as crew leaders that work for the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps. Some of the crew leaders have been working for many years now without any health or pension benefits. It is important for both retention and morale that they now be included as they provide a very important service in training and positioning many of our workers for the future. There are just over 50 such supervisors/crew leaders in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and they play a very dynamic and crucial role in training real life skills to individuals that otherwise many never have the opportunity, while at the same time providing outstanding public service in our individual and collective legislative districts. I hope you will join me in amending the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps Act to help these most deserving individuals.
