Subject: | Penalties for Murdering an Unborn Child (Former HB 1224) |
In the near future, I intend to re-introduce legislation that would amend Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, for the purpose of including sentencing requirements for murdering an unborn child of the first degree. Specifically, I am re-introducing House Bill 1224 PN 1336 of the 2011-12 Legislative Session, which further provides for first, second and third degree offenses (regardless of the intent), if convicted of murdering a pregnant woman and consequently murdering an unborn child. In addition, my proposal addresses sentencing requirements for committing voluntary manslaughter due to sudden and intense passion resulting from serious provocation. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. Previous co-sponsors: YOUNGBLOOD, BOYD, MILNE, D. COSTA, HORNAMAN AND HICKERNELL |
