Subject: | Military Family Relief Association Re-authorization |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will extend the tax check-off for the Military Family Relief Program. The Military Family Relief Program provides financial assistance to Armed Forces personnel and their families, including the National Guard and the Reserve components. The assistance available under this program is immediate and can be used for food, shelter, clothing, medical care that is necessary, which is due to a member's active duty status, such as deployment overseas. The relief program is funded by a tax check-off authorized under the Tax Reform Code, beginning in 2005 and has been extended twice since then. The tax check-off provided for is set to expire January 1, 2014. My legislation will extend this much needed check-off for another four years until January 1, 2018. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation so that we can continue to provide emergency assistance to our military personnel and their families. |
