MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 12, 2013 10:54 AM
From: Representative Adam Harris
To: All House members
Subject: Add State Parole Officers to the Public Employee Relations Act of July 23, 1970

In the near future I will be introducing legislation that will add State Parole Officers to the Public Employee Relations Act of July 23, 1970 (P.L. 563, No. 195) thus making them eligible for collective bargaining under this law.

State Corrections officers serve a vital role in our justice system by keeping tabs on offenders who have been granted an early release from their sentence. Adequate supervision of these individuals helps ensure public safety and allows the justice system to maintain a close level of supervision over these individuals who have been released only under the stipulation that they meet all requirements set forth by the courts. State Parole agents maintain the integrity of this agreement and serve a vital role here in the Commonwealth.

Please join me in the sponsoring this legislation which will benefit State Parole Officers throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

Introduced as HB1255
