Subject: | “World Voice Day” |
I am introducing a resolution recognizing April 16, 2013, as “World Voice Day” in Pennsylvania. Each year on April 16, otolaryngologist – head and neck surgeons and other voice health professionals worldwide join together to recognize the importance of vocal health through the celebration of World Voice Day. Approximately seven million Americans suffer from some form of voice disorder which impacts their lives and ability to fully express themselves. Many people do not understand the signs and symptoms of these disorders and often delay treatment which can cause irreparable damage to their voice quality. World Voice Day encourages men and women, young and old, to assess their vocal health and take action to improve or maintain good voice habits. The American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery has sponsored the U.S. observance of World Voice Day since its inception in 2002. |
