Subject: Railroad Employee Safety Legislation-Whistle Board Preservation
 
I am introducing a package of legislation consisting of 4 bills dealing with the safety of railroad employees.

The second bill deals with WHISTLE BOARD PRESERVATION. Whistle Boards are whistle post signs placed to the right of the main track in the direction of approach at a certain distance from the entrance to a crossing to notify engineers to blow the whistle and ring a bell as the locomotive approaches the crossing as a warning to the public. This legislation provides for this signage, care and especially maintenance.

This legislation was HB 1736 in prior Session 2011-12.
