Subject: | Co-sponsorship of Resolution Honoring Boxing Judge Lynne Carter |
In the near future, I am planning to introduce a resolution honoring the life of pioneering boxing judge Lynne Carter. In 1982, Ms. Carter began her career as a pioneer in the sport of boxing. Among other firsts, Ms. Carter was the first International African American Female Judge in the states of New Jersey and Connecticut, and she was the first International African American Female in the Women’s International Boxing Federation. Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Carter has judged many boxing bouts in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and at other boxing sites in that state. In 2012, Ms. Carter was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame. She has also visited many locations around the world and, with more than 31 years of involvement in this sport, is widely known and respected as an excellent judge in the American and international boxing communities. In addition to her efforts and accomplishments in the sport of boxing, Ms. Carter has received numerous awards and recognition for her extensive involvement in community service, including fundraising for numerous organizations and worthy causes. On June 20, 2013, Ms. Carter is being honored in the City of Philadelphia for her distinguished career as a highly respected boxing judge. If you should have any questions or concerns regarding this legislation, please contact Fran Harris at (717) 772-6955 or fharris@pahouse.net. |
