Subject: | Resolution designating the week of October 20 through October 26, 2013 as “Youth Violence Prevention Week” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will be introducing a Resolution designating the week of October 20 through October 26, 2013 as “Youth Violence Prevention Week” in Pennsylvania. As many of you know, recent studies have shown that the Commonwealth has more people serving sentences of life without the possibility of parole for crimes they committed as juveniles than any other jurisdiction. The National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) and the Guidance Group have united forces to become the founding partners of the National Youth Violence Prevention Campaign with a goal of raising awareness and educating the public on various methods to prevent youth violence in our communities. This is an issue that effects the youth in all of our Legislative Districts and, subsequently, the issue should have the General Assembly’s unwavering support. As such, it is my hope that you will join with me in co-sponsoring this this essential Resolution. If you have any questions, please contact my office at (717) 787-3480. |
