Subject: | PFC James E. Ludwig Memorial Bridge |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to honor Private First Class James E. Ludwig. This bill will designate a bridge carrying Pennsylvania Route 56 over the Conemaugh River in Seward Borough, Westmoreland County and East Wheatfield Township, Indiana County as the PFC James E. Ludwig Memorial Bridge. Private First Class James E. Ludwig was a native of New Florence, Pennsylvania and served in the United States Army from March of 1951 until being killed-in-action on Sept 15, 1951. As a member of the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, his death occurred while fighting in North Korea during the month-long Battle of Heartbreak Ridge. Because of his service, he was awarded a Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Korean Service Medal, The United Nations’ Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal. Please join me in sponsoring this important piece of legislation in order to honor a fallen soldier. |
