Subject: | Condolence Resolution – Lance Corporal Joshua M. Martino |
In the near future, we plan to introduce the attached Condolence Resolution for Marine Lance Corporal Joshua M. Martino, who tragically lost his life during a military training exercise on March 18, 2013. Joshua M. Martino was born and raised in DuBois, PA and graduated from the DuBois Area High School class of 2012. He joined the US Marine Corps in July 2012. He completed recruit training at Parris Island, SC, then completed the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, NC where he earned the Military Occupational Specialty of Mortarman. He joined the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, Alpha Company in December 2012 and was slated for deployment to Afghanistan in October 2013. On March 18, 2013, Joshua and six other Marines were killed when a mortar shell exploded in the firing tube during a military exercise in Hawthorne, NV. Joshua has been awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and was posthumously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. He was buried at Morningside Cemetery in DuBois with full military honors. Please join us in honoring the life and the sacrifice of Lance Corporal Joshua M.
