| Subject: | Providing for a Percentage Payout Instead of a Standard Rebate |
| In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation that would amend the Taxpayer Relief Act of 2006 by allowing an eligible claimant to receive the larger amount between the standard rebate (plus the existing 50% bonus for applicants with property tax liabilities greater than 15% of their income) or an amount equal to 15% of the face value of the real property taxes paid by the claimant during the calendar year. This legislation will provide greater assistance to those Pennsylvanians with higher property tax obligations and lower incomes. This minor change will provide much needed financial assistance to some of the most vulnerable citizens of our commonwealth. Please join me in supporting this legislation. |
