Subject: Resolution - Designating May as Older Pennsylvanians Month
 
In the very near future, I plan to introduce a resolution to designate the month of May as Older Pennsylvanians Month in Pennsylvania.

Nationally, May is known as Older Americans Month. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services theme for 2014 is Safe Today. Healthy Tomorrow.

We all recognize the value of injury prevention and safety awareness in helping older adults remain healthy and active. Our communities and senior centers provide opportunities to enrich the lives of individuals both young and old.

In addition, I believe we all need to learn how to safeguard them from injuries and provide them with information on how they can take control of their own safety and well-being.

I hope that you will join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution.
