MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 12, 2014 12:02 PM
From: Representative Ronald G. Waters
To: All House members
Subject: Senior Citizen Property Tax Reform Legislation

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would exempt certain Pennsylvania Senior Citizens from having to pay property taxes. As many seniors live on fixed incomes, they should have peace-of-mind knowing that unaffordable property taxes will not force them out of their homes.

May is older Americans Month and I believe we should use this opportunity to focus on one of the biggest issues facing older Pennsylvanians: being able to afford to stay in your own home. Far too many of our seniors have to choose between paying their property tax bill or buying food or medicine. This needs to change.

Please contact Germaine Miller or Henry Beaver at 772-9850 in my office to join with me and support this common-sense legislative solution to a growing problem for many of Pennsylvania’s senior citizens.

Introduced as HB2394
