Subject: | Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month in PA - October 2014 |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution designating the month of October 2014 as “Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Muscular dystrophy is a group of muscle diseases that weaken the musculoskeletal system and limit locomotion. Muscular dystrophies are characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins and the death of muscle cells and tissue. There are multiple types of muscular dystrophy, including nine major forms with a range of symptoms and variable progression, which affects more than 50,000 persons in the United States. I would greatly appreciate your support of this resolution. Thank you for your consideration. |
