Subject: | Condolence Resolution - Edwin Jeffrey "Lance" Wentzel |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to honor the life of Edwin Jeffrey "Lance" Wentzel, 57, who on March 22, 2014, was tragically killed in the line of duty when he was struck and killed by a train while he was helping to search for a woman who had been reported missing. Mr. Wentzel was a member of the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years and was an exemplary volunteer firefighter as evidenced by the fact that he was chosen as the department's "Firefighter of the Year" in 2012. He leaves a legacy of distinguished and honorable service to his community. Mr. Wentzel was born in Greensburg on October 16, 1956; he was the son of the late Jacob and Irma Wentzel and was a 34-year employee of Scott Electric in Southwest Greensburg. He volunteered at the Ground Zero site in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Mr. Wentzel was an active member of the 14th Quartermaster family support group and an avid marathon runner. I hope you will join me in honoring the life of Edwin Jeffrey "Lance" Wentzel. |
