Subject: | Flag Burning Ban Reslolution |
In the near future I plan to reintroduce a resolution urging the United States Congress to pass a constitutional amendment banning the intentional burning or desecration of the United States flag. The American flag is a symbol of freedom to billions around the world. It also serves as a constant reminder, to all Americans, of all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our way of life. Multiple United States Supreme Court rulings have struck down laws banning the intentional burning and desecration of the U.S. flag. It is clear that the only way we can protect our flag is through an amendment to the United States Constitution. This legislation will be identical to Senate Resolution 24 of last session. Previous co-sponsors include Senators PILEGGI, CORMAN, BROWNE, WAUGH, ROBBINS, GORDNER, ERICKSON, EICHELBERGER, SMUCKER, ALLOWAY, D. WHITE, VOGEL, TOMLINSON, RAFFERTY, ARGALL, WARD, MENSCH, BAKER, BRUBAKER, TARTAGLIONE, WOZNIAK, FONTANA, BREWSTER, BOSCOLA AND KASUNIC. Please join me in urging congress to pass this critical constitutional amendment to protect the American flag. |
