Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 10, 2013 03:44 PM
From: Senator John N. Wozniak
To: All Senate members
Subject: Amendment to Title 75 pertaining to Safety Inspection

I plan to introduce legislation that would amend Title 75, Vehicle Code, pertaining to vehicles required to have safety inspection. My legislation would provide an exemption for new vehicles for the first two years after the vehicle is manufactured. After such time, the new vehicle would be required to have a safety inspection.

As we explore increases to transportation revenue, I believe it is important to, also, keep the consumer in mind. The safety inspection program in Pennsylvania provides a safer environment for the motoring public; however, during the first two years a vehicle is unlikely to need safety repairs.

This legislation was Senate Bill 1451 during the 2011-2012 Legislative Session and was incorporated as an amendment into Senator Vogel's Emission Inspection legislation.

Introduced as SB676
