Subject: | Co-Sponsorship: FFA Week in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will be reintroducing a resolution commemorating the week of February 17-23, 2013, as “FFA Week in Pennsylvania.” Founded in 1928, The FFA has served as an organization for students to interact with leaders in the agriculture community to develop leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Started as an organization for men, the FFA has grown to include both men and women of diverse backgrounds. Today, the FFA has over 550,000 members throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, with 43% of its membership being comprised of young women. Agriculture is the nation’s largest employer, and the FFA has played a substantial role in contributing to its success. For 2012, I introduced SR 254 cosponsored by Senators Schwank, Scarnati, Pileggi, Alloway, Argall, Baker, Boscola, Brewster, Browne, Brubaker, Dinniman, Erickson, Ferlo, Folmer, Fontana, Greenleaf, Gordner, Hughes, Kasunic, Kitchen, Orie, Pippy, Rafferty, Robbins, Solobay, Stack, Tartaglione, Ward, Washington, Waugh, D. White, and Yaw. |
