Subject: Election of Appellate Justices and Judges by District
 
I plan to introduce a Joint Resolution proposing an amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution which would provide for the election of Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth Court justices by regional election districts.

While the legal jurisdiction of the courts would remain statewide, my legislation would provide for the drawing of districts for election purposes, so that the composition of these courts would be more representative of the various geographic regions of our state, and provide greater opportunity for voters to become more familiar with candidates—two frequently mentioned criticisms of our current system.
