Subject: | Co-Sponsorship: Egg Month in Pennsylvania |
I will be reintroducing a resolution commemorating May as “Egg Month in Pennsylvania.” The American Egg Board dedicates May to raising egg awareness. The mission of the American Egg Board is to increase the demand for eggs and egg products on behalf of U.S. egg producers. Pennsylvania is the third largest egg-producing state in the nation. Our Commonwealth has an average of 23.9 million hens producing nearly seven billion eggs, which contributes $408.2 million to the state’s economy each year. Pennsylvania eggs meet high quality and safety standards, majority of which are certified under the Pennsylvania Egg Quality Assurance Program (PEQAP). PEQAP egg producers are also enrolled in the PA Preferred Program, further promoting the purchase of goods produced in Pennsylvania. For 2012, I introduces SR 320 cosponsored by Senators Schwank, Pileggi, Alloway, Argall, Boscola, Brewster, Browne, Brubaker, Dinniman, Eichelberger, Erickson, Ferlo, Fontana, Pippy, Rafferty, Solobay, Stack, Tartaglione, Waugh, D. White, and Yaw. |
