Subject: | AKA Day |
I will be introducing a resolution designating May 14, 2013 as “Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Day” in Pennsylvania. Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African American college-educated women. Founded at Howard University on January 15, 1908, 2013 marks its 105th year. AKA is dedicated to promoting peace and improving the quality of life for citizens worldwide. Currently, AKA has a nucleus of 260,000 members in both graduate and undergraduate chapters. Membership is comprised of distinguished women who boast excellent academic records, proven leadership skills, and are involved in the global community through advocacy and service. Please join me in honoring AKA day in Pennsylvania by joining as a co-sponsor. |
