Subject: | National Guard Technicians |
In the near future, I will be introducing a Resolution that calls on Congress to support and pass H.R. 1014, a bill that would exempt military technicians from sequestration (by including them in military personnel accounts now and in the future). With the $47 billion in cuts throughout the Department of Defense (DoD), including the furlough of 800,000 civilian employees, I feel that National Guard Military Technicians should be exempt. This is critical to the mission of the National Guard and for the safety and preparedness of the citizens of the Commonwealth. The PA National Guard has approximately 1,800 technicians in Pennsylvania. A reduction in this sector would have severe negative consequences to the Guard as a whole. It is of the utmost importance that the Pennsylvania National Guard maintain training/readiness to ensure that the National Guard is ready to answer the call for domestic operations. Please join me in calling on our federal leaders to do what is best for the country and what is best for Pennsylvania. |
