MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 3, 2013 11:11 AM
From: Senator Vincent J. Hughes
To: All Senate members
Subject: American Stroke Month Resolution

In the near future I plan to introduce a resolution designating May 2013 as "American Stroke Month".

This resolution is an effort to increase awareness, across the Commonwealth, of the symptoms, warning signs and risk factors associated with stroke. Stroke is the fourth highest cause of death in this country and the leading cause of serious, long-term disability. Currently one third of adults are unable to identify stroke symptoms. By putting stroke at the forefront of our consciousness, we can begin to work towards prevention and make sure our citizens are able to quickly recognize stroke when it may occur.

Introduced as SR138
