Subject: | Sleep Apnea Awareness Month |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating May, “Sleep Apnea Awareness Month”. As a sufferer of sleep apnea, I know first hand how dangerous this condition can be. It affects millions of people of all ages, race, and gender. Research has linked sleep apnea with numerous acute and chronic health conditions including depression, heart disease, and obesity. I believe public awareness and local resources for diagnosis and treatment are necessary to address this growing problem. Additionally, I would also like to recognize the PA Sleep Society for their work in promoting excellence in the areas of sleep research, sleep education, and clinical practice. The PA Sleep Society is an independent organization of sleep physicians, researchers, technologists and allied health professionals in Pennsylvania. If you have any questions please contact Josh Myers of my staff at 787-5400 or by email to jmyers@pasenate.com. Thank you for your consideration. |
