Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 13, 2013 01:48 PM
From: Senator Michael J. Stack
To: All Senate members
Subject: Educational leave of absence for Deployed Members of the Military

In the near future, I will reintroduce Senate Bill 776 of the 2011-12 session, that would provide for educational leave of absence for deployed members of the military. Currently, members of the PA National Guard or other armed forces who are enrolled in an educational institution and are called to active duty are entitled to full restoration of their educational status upon their return.

This new legislation would allow returning members to comply with the degree requirements in place at the time of their deployment in the event that the requirements have changed. The institution shall advise the member by e-mail or writing of their rights under this legislation.
