Subject: | Electronic Delivery and Posting |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to provide for electronic delivery of information and posting of policies and endorsements as part of insurance transactions. The objective of the bill is providing more cost efficient, consumer friendly, and environmentally sensitive methods of communication with policyholders. This proposal would bring notice requirements in Pennsylvania’s insurance laws fully into the state Uniform Electronic Transaction Act (UETA), and allows the posting of generic portions of policies. It is important consumers are not surprised or confused in how they get information on insurance policies, so this bill would alleviate those concerns by providing consumer driven options. A consumer may choose to opt in to e-delivery notices if he or she chooses, and only the generic part of a policy is posted. Additionally, the consumer gets the core information and instructions as well as a separate notice. |
