Subject: | Right to Work |
Shortly, I will be introducing legislation to make Pennsylvania a Right to Work state. Despite certain rhetoric, a Right to Work law simply gives employees the right to decide for themselves whether or not to join or financially support a union. Employees who presently work in the railway or airline industries already have this right; employees who work on a federal enclave sometimes have this right. With Michigan recently enacting a Right to Work law, 24 other states (plus Guam) are now Right to Work states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming. I hope Pennsylvania becomes the 25th Right to Work state. |
Introduced as SB1073
