Subject: | Resolution Designating September 27, 2013 as “Pennsylvania First Responder Appreciation Day” |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution designating September 27, 2013 as “First Responder Appreciation Day” in Pennsylvania. This day coincides with the national tribute to our first responders. Pennsylvania has more than 150,000 first responders who serve in the front lines of any emergency, protecting the public, preserving order, and preventing the loss of life, peace and property. The Commonwealth’s police officers, career and volunteer firefighters, EMS personnel and other first responders have performed with extraordinary courage and an inspiring sense of self-sacrifice on September 11, 2001, during Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee in 2011, throughout last October’s Superstorm Sandy, and in countless other emergencies that occur every day in communities across the Commonwealth. These local heroes often risk their own lives in order to protect, serve and save others. This resolution will pay tribute to these brave men and women, and salute their dedication, service and sacrifices. Thank you for considering this resolution. |
