Subject: | Resolution Recognizing November as "National Hospice and Palliative Care Month" in Pennsylvania |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution designating November 2013 as "National Hospice and Palliative Care Month" in Pennsylvania. Every year more than 1.5 million Americans living with life-limiting illness and their families receive care from the nation's hospice programs in communities across the country by more than 468,000 trained volunteers. The provision of quality hospice and palliative care reaffirms the belief in the essential dignity of every person, regardless of age, health or social status, and that people at every stage of human life deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and care. Through pain management, symptom control, caregiver training and assistance, and emotional and spiritual support, patients are able to live fully up until the final moments due to the compassionate care of skilled hospice and palliative care professionals, including physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, counselors, health aides and clergy. Thank you for your consideration. |
