Subject: | Resolution Congratulating Alcoa on 125 Years |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to congratulate Alcoa on the 125th anniversary of its incorporation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Founded in 1888 as the Pittsburgh Reduction Company, Alcoa has been at the forefront of the aluminum industry from the beginning, when co-founder Charles Martin Hall discovered a new, affordable way to produce aluminum. Alcoa has since revolutionized its markets, from aerospace and automotive to consumer electronics and packaging. Still based in Pittsburgh and employing more than 3,200 Pennsylvanians, Alcoa has also invested over $550 million in local communities through its Alcoa Foundation and been named to BusinessWeek’s list of top green companies. Please join me in supporting this resolution. |
