Subject: | Designating October 2013 as "Pennsylvania's Promise for Children Month" |
I will soon introduce a resolution designating the month of October, 2013, as “Pennsylvania’s Promise for Children Month.” Pennsylvania’s Promise for Children is a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of providing our young children with access to quality early learning opportunities. Forty years of research shows that children receiving high quality early education are more likely to be prepared for and do better in school; graduate high school; attend college or job training; and have higher earnings. For the fourth year in a row, PA’s Promise for Children is using October as a month to educate the public on the importance of quality early learning to our children’s school readiness and future achievement. October will also be a month to celebrate the families, teachers and leaders that help our young children reach their promise through quality early education. |
