Subject: | National Massage Therapy Awareness Week |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing October 20-26, 2013, as National Massage Therapy Awareness Week in Pennsylvania. There is a growing body of research that shows massage therapy is beneficial for a wide variety of health issues, including stress, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, arthritis, back pain, muscle injury and soreness, headaches, and just general good health. The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) estimates that massage therapy is an $8 to 12 billion a year industry and is increasingly becoming part of integrated health care. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution to honor the more than 7,500 massage therapists licensed in Pennsylvania. |
