Subject: | Changes to the Health Care Facilities Act |
In the near future, I plan on introducing changes to the Pennsylvania Health Care Facilities Act of 1979. The changes will read as follows: Include "Outpatient" drug and alcohol treatment facilities under the "Health Care Facilities" Definition section. Currently only inpatient treatment facilities are outlined. However, many of those who are struggling with substance abuse issues receive valuable treatment from outpatient facilities as well. This will make a more uniform change to make the law clearer. The Department of Health will also provide a progress report to the House Health Committee and Human Services Committee as well as the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee. This simply changes the appropriate names of the responsible committees in the House and Senate. This is simply an update on name changes under the House and Senate. While these changes appear minor, they are important in continuing an appropriate level of transparency and consistency under the law. If you have any additional questions on how this legislation may impact current law, please contact my Harrisburg office for more information. Thank you in advance. |
