Subject: | Resolution designating “Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Day” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating October 22, 2013 as “Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Day” in Pennsylvania in honor of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. The founders of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity aspired to combat racial discrimination from the founding of the fraternity, while focusing largely on achievement in every field of human endeavor. There are more than 150,000 members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity that continue the tradition of providing community service, social welfare and academic scholarship to the community at large. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity has undergraduate and alumni chapters in every state of the United States, in addition to international chapters in the United Kingdom, Germany, Korea, Japan, United States Virgin Islands, Nigeria, and South Africa. Pennsylvania is home to twenty one of those undergraduate chapters, along with numerous alumni chapters. Kappa Alpha Psi was also the second predominately African American collegiate fraternity to celebrate its 100th anniversary, making it a very distinguishable and noteworthy organization. Please join me in designating October 22, 2013 as “Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Day” to formally honor Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated for their outstanding achievements, long standing history, and positive contributions to society. |
