Subject: | Memo #30 – Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council Resolution |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a Senate resolution recognizing the work of the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council. The group is made up of people with disabilities, family members, advocates and state department representatives who work to create favorable conditions for people with developmental disabilities and their families in the Commonwealth. The council funds proposals from groups and organizations through a competitive bid process to achieve the goals of a five-year plan to create a better future for Pennsylvanians with disabilities. It envisions a Commonwealth comprised of inclusive communities where all people with disabilities are valued and thrive. Among the issues promoted, funded and championed are attendant care programs, self-determined housing initiatives, family support legislation, permanency planning and the statewide adoption system. |
