Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 10, 2014 11:45 AM
From: Senator Kim L. Ward
To: All Senate members
Subject: Senate Resolution: Recognizing “National Travel and Tourism Week” (May 3 thru 11, 2014) and Observing “Tourism Day” (May 5, 2014)

In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution in conjunction with Senator Wayne D. Fontana, which recognizes the week of May 3 through May 11, 2014, as “National Travel and Tourism Week” and observes May 5, 2014, as “Tourism Day” in Pennsylvania.

“National Travel and Tourism Week” and “Tourism Day” are designed to draw attention to and recognize the economic, social and cultural impacts of travel and tourism in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States. Travel and tourism is a significant industry in Pennsylvania generating billions of dollars in spending, local and state taxes and jobs that support the economy of the Commonwealth.

Travel and tourism provide an opportunity for the Commonwealth to showcase its spectacular natural scenery and culture to all travelers. Thus, it is important that we acknowledge and celebrate the important role travel and tourism plays in the lives of Pennsylvanians.

If you have any questions about this resolution, please contact Jason R. Brehouse, Esq. at 717-787-6063 or jbrehouse@pasen.gov.
