Subject: | Miscellaneous Motor Vehicle Business License Plate |
In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation to further provide for the use of “miscellaneous motor vehicle business” (MMVB) registration plates. It is commonplace for auto-detailing businesses to provide regular services to local car dealerships that want their new and used cars spruced up before putting them on display. Understandably, car dealerships would prefer to have detailers use their own license plates and insurance when transporting vehicles to and from the detailer’s place of business. However, detailing businesses are currently unable to obtain the necessary MMVB registration plates, which are strictly issued to repair or towing businesses, vehicle salvage dealers, vehicle transporting businesses, automotive financiers or collector/re-possessors, and watercraft trailer dealers. My legislation would expand the definition of a “repair or towing business” under Title 75, Section 1337 (Use of ‘Miscellaneous Motor Vehicle Business’ registration plates), to include auto-detailers. This would enable detailers to transport vehicles in their possession without having to register each vehicle individually, thereby removing a significant barrier to doing business. Please join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
