Subject: Amending the City Revitalization and Improvement Zones Act
 
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would amend the City Revitalization and Improvement Zones (CRIZ) Act.

The act currently does not provide for the designation of any additional CRIZ’s until 2015. My bill would move that schedule forward and authorize the approval of three new zones in 2014 and two additional zones in 2015.

My proposal would also increase the number of potential pilot zones (boroughs and townships) from one to four.

Finally, the legislation would require the authorizing municipality to decertify all Keystone Opportunity Zones and similar zones within 60 days of approval as a CRIZ.
