Subject: Community Action Month Resolutoin
 
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to designate May 2014 as “Community Action Month” in Pennsylvania.

Community action agencies were established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, an act to direct our nation to use its human and financial resources to fight poverty. Fighting poverty on the local level is an effective and efficient way to assist families who struggle with limited income. These agencies have been vigorously doing this for 50 years.
Partnerships that integrate private, nonprofit, and community resources help improve living conditions for so many Pennsylvanians and we should applaud the commitment and effort of these community action groups.
