Subject: | Resolution – Pennsylvania Career Development Day |
In the near future, I plan on again introducing a resolution designating October 15, 2014 as “Pennsylvania Career Development Day” in Pennsylvania. In today’s economy, all students must graduate high school ready to succeed in college and their careers. Research predicts that by 2020, about 65 percent of all jobs in the nation will require some postsecondary education and that 90 percent of new jobs in growing industries with high wages will require some postsecondary education. The unemployment rate among the people who have a professional degree is significantly lower than that of people who have a high school diploma or less than a complete high school education. In addition, earnings increase significantly as a worker’s degree of education rises. Not only will higher level of employment translate into higher wages for workers, but it will also help bolster Pennsylvania’s economic vitality. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation and acknowledging organizations, like the Capitol Region Partnership for Career Development, who fulfill the critical needs of workforce development within the Commonwealth. |
