Subject: | 100th Anniversary of the Unifying Convention of the VFW |
In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Unifying Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and to commend its members for their courage and sacrifice in service to the United States. In 1914, in Pittsburgh, members of the American Veterans of Foreign Service and the National Society of the Army of the Philippines voted to merge their organizations and adopted the name "Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States". The organization, which serves as a leading advocate for veterans, active duty military and their families, and community service, is active at the international, national, state, and local levels with more than two million members worldwide. Please join me in recognizing this momentous anniversary for an outstanding organization. |
