Subject: | Taxpayer-Funded Advertising Transparency Act (Previously SB 109) |
I plan to reintroduce my “Taxpayer-Funded Advertising Transparency Act” as unanimously passed by the full Senate last Session. This bill was previously Senate Bill 109 (PN 1106) cosponsored by: Robbins, Brown, Erickson, Orie, Vogel, Pileggi, Piccola, Rafferty, Smucker, Eichelberger, Vance, D. White, Baker, M. White, Alloway, Pippy, Washington, Corman, Gordner, Waugh, Mensch, Brubaker, Earll, Farnese, Ferlo, and Wozniak. This legislation would require all Commonwealth agencies (executive, legislative and judicial branches) to note whenever tax moneys are used for advertising: “Paid for with Pennsylvania taxpayer dollars.” This requirement would include:
This legislation will help educate taxpayers on how their tax moneys are being spent. It could also help reduce overhead costs for state programs as managers would be asking themselves if advertising with tax dollars is warranted. |
Introduced as SB279
