Subject: | Reimbursement of emergency service providers (former HB 1383) |
In the near future, I will be reintroducing legislation that would require the reimbursement of emergency service providers that respond to an emergency situation on state-owned land. Under my bill, an emergency service provider that responds to a PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources request for emergency services on state-owned land would receive a $225 reimbursement. My legislation also establishes procedures for responding to requests for emergency services by state or local police. As many of you are aware, the majority of emergency service providers operate as nonprofits. The individuals who work for these organizations and associations put their lives at risk every day to keep the citizens of this Commonwealth safe. This proposal would enable these individuals to continue to provide the essential services that are required when an emergency occurs on state land. I hope you will join me in this effort to keep our emergency service providers operational. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
