Subject: | Admitting Privileges |
In the near future, we intend to introduce legislation to amend Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statues, in abortion, further providing for prohibited acts by adding that any physician performing or inducing an abortion who does not have clinical privileges at a hospital which offers obstetrical or gynecological care located within 30 miles of the location at which the abortion is performed or induced shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor in the third degree. This legislation is a response to protect the rights of women and unborn children from events such as those disclosed at the facility run by Dr. Kermit Gosnell. This was previously House Bill 1762 of 2014, and those who had cosponsored were as follows: CUTLER , BARBIN, SACCONE, STERN , JAMES, SWANGER , KULA , HAGGERTY, KAUFFMAN , FEE, TALLMAN, EVERETT , CLYMER , READSHAW , LAWRENCE, CALTAGIRONE , GIBBONS , METCALFE , AUMENT, ROAE , TURZAI , KRIEGER, REESE, DUNBAR, GILLEN, KILLION , DiGIROLAMO , MALONEY, COX , BAKER , HENNESSEY , MICOZZIE , ROCK , GINGRICH , HARHAI , OBERLANDER, DENLINGER , HACKETT, MAJOR , McGINNIS, GABLER, GROVE, KORTZ , MARSHALL , BLOOM, CAUSER , EMRICK, BENNINGHOFF , HICKERNELL , KNOWLES, MICCARELLI, PEIFER , BOBACK , HARKINS and HEFFLEY |
