Subject: | Special Permit for Limited Distilleries |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that will allow limited distilleries to obtain a special permit to be utilized at farmers markets and food expositions. Limited distilleries will be able to use a special permit to offer tasting and sales of their products for off premise consumption. Similar to the special permit for limited wineries, distilleries would pay a fee of $30 per day for each day of permitted use not to exceed 30 days. The total number of days for all the special permits may not exceed 100 days in a calendar year. The limited distillery industry has grown at an astounding rate in the past few years. In 2012 there were only four limited distilleries in Pennsylvania, today there are twenty six across the Commonwealth. This legislation will provide these small businesses the niche they need to market their fine products and showcase Pennsylvania’s growing craft spirit industry. I plan on introducing this legislation by the end of next week. Thank you. |
