| Subject: | Bridge Naming _A2C Gerald Emmett Johnson |
| I am seeking your support for legislation that will designate the State Route 580 Bridge in Cherry Tree Borough, Indiana County as the Airman Second Class Gerald Emmett Johnson Memorial Bridge. A2C Johnson was a crew member of a B-29 a Superfortress Bomber with the 371st Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Wing. On October 23, 1951, his aircraft was shot down by enemy MiGs over Namsi Airfield. It is reported that he survived the crash and was taken prisoner of war. His remains were never found and he was declared dead on January 28, 1954, at the age of 21. A2C Johnson was awarded the Air Medal, the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
