Subject: | Co-Sponsorship: Resolution that recognizes November 1, 2015 as “National Family Literacy Day” in Pennsylvania. |
In the coming days, I plan to introduce a Resolution that recognizes November 1, 2015 as “National Family Literacy Day” in Pennsylvania. As you know, National Family Literacy Day highlights the benefits of encouraging family time for families when parents and children have an opportunity to read together. In addition, this family reading time also helps to promote creativity, writing, and enhanced reading and language skills among participants. The benefits for our future generations of children are great. Increased participation in reading helps position our children for future academic success because reading encourages them to think critically and to be analytical and imaginative. Finally, numerous studies show that children who are raised in homes where family literacy is promoted are positioned for greater academic performance later on. With that said, it is for these reasons and more that I am proud to offer this Resolution. As such, if you have any questions, please contact my Research Analyst -- Takesha Latham at (717) 705-1943 or via email at tlatham@pahouse.net. |
