Subject: | Designation of the Honorable Lawrence H. Curry Bridge |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would designate the bridge located on a portion of Greenwood Avenue in Cheltenham Township and Jenkintown Borough, Montgomery County, as the Honorable Lawrence H. Curry Bridge. State Rep. Lawrence Curry represented the 154th Legislative District from his election in 1992 until 2012. During his 20 years in the House of Representatives, Curry held several leadership positions, including chairman of the Aging & Older Services Committee. As a state legislator, Curry was on the forefront of issues that affect working families, senior citizens and children, especially tax reform, equal opportunity, environmental protection, health and education. Since his retirement from the Pennsylvania Legislature, Curry has continued his advocacy for the many causes he so fervently fought for including Holocaust education and Civil Rights. It is only fitting to have his name placed on this bridge as a reminder of his contributions to the Commonwealth as well as his community. Please join me in supporting this legislation. |
